UGHELLI/Nigeria: PDP faithfuls and ward delegates in Ughelli South have been enjoined to rally round a house of assembly hopeful in the area, Comrade Aghogho Ikolo in his bid to represent the Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta state house of Assembly under the Platform of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in the 2019 general Election.
Some PDP leaders and elders made the call on last Wednesday, when they played host to Comrade Ikolo who was on a consultation visit to inform of his intention to represent the people come 2019.
To get a royal backing of the traditional council, the House of Assembly hopeful was also at the palace of the Okobaro of Ughievwhen Kingdom, Uwawha the second.
During the visits, PDP front line leaders and elders from Ughelli South including Chief Eric Obofokoro, Olorogun Earnest Adogbeji-Ideh, Reverend Isaac Achicha amongs others while welcoming the Ughelli South Constituency aspirant and his team, noted that there is an obvious gap in terms of an adequate representation of the area in the state level.
They welcomed Comrade Ikolo’s desire to bridge the gap with a task to make the development of the area a burning issue above his personal interest.
The PDP leaders and elders called on delegates from the various wards in Ughelli South to support Comrade Ikolo in the PDP primaries, a move they said will transform into an all round development of the area through an effective representation at the state level.
While at the Palace of the Okobaro of Ughievwhen Kingdom, he was officially presented to the king by a party faithful Professor Gordini Dara.
Speaking alongside another PDP chieftain chief Benson Itietie of the Jeremi ward one, Professor Dara emphasized that only a deliberately planned effort to effect a needed change in the leadership can yield the much anticipated impact which in turn will better the lots of the people.
For his part, the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom commended Comrd. Aghogho Ikolo on his courage to come out to serve his people.
The Monarch who blessed and prayed for Mr. Ikolo, urged the house of assembly faithful to be visionary determined and confident as he consults with elders, leaders, and every member of the various wards in Ughelli South Local Government Council, stressing that the people must be carried along.
Earlier Comrade Ikolo in his separate address to the Monarch, leaders and elders, said his visit was a reflection of the high level of respect he has for the palace and elders.
The Electrical Electronics graduate and One time Faculty of Engineering President, from the University of Benin informed that he is a diligent grass root politician and will not fail the people if given the opportunity to serve as he intends to harness all available Educational, Infrastructural and socio-economic opportunities in the area for an effective all round development lacking in the area.
Comr. Ikolo who commended Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the good work he is doing in Ughelli south and said he is ready to fast track an all round development of the area in line with the Governor’s SMART Agenda.
