ASABA/Nigeria: Just like the ruling party in Delta State, The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the All progressives Congress, APC have produced the flag bearer for 2023 Governorship Election in the person of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was had been elected unopposed in a congress organised in Asaba, the state capital on Thursday, May 26, 2022.
The primary which was well attended by party faithful and delegates from the 25 local government of the state, had a total number of 1, 135 delegates accredited, with 1,190 of them affirming the candidature of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
Before voting commenced shortly after accreditation of delegates, Delegates from the three senatorial districts of Delta North, Delta Central and Delta State were accredited and they voted.
In his valedictory remark after he was formerly announced he expressed gratitude to the APC national office, and declared his acceptance of his nomination as APC governorship flag bearer in Delta State, promising to ensure the state is economically developed, as the state under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had failed the people in the past 24 years of being in power.
With this affirmation done, he will lock horns with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori at the 2023 governorship elections.
Commenting on the exercise, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Rev. Monday Udo Tom, Rev. Tom told delegates that it was necessary by law for INEC officials to monitor primary exercise, pointing out that the rules states that there must be physical voting even if it is only one person that is the aspirant.
The officials of APC from Abuja that conducted the primary election were led by Mrs. Oyibo Nwaneri.
At the event were some notable leaders of the party in the state who were there as observers.
