AGBOR/Nigeria: The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members, and supporters to work for the victory of the party in February and March 2023.
The Deputy Governor gave the advice when he addressed the party members at the PDP Local Government campaign tours to the two Local Government Areas of Ika Nation, on Friday, January 13, 2023.
Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, who expressed great satisfaction with the mobilisation of the members across the two Local Government Areas of Ika South and Ika North-East, thanked the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for the great policies their government had put in place for more than seven years.
He however, reminded the party members that what they and friends of the party are expected to do in the months of February and March is to make use of their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs to vote for the party, and all the party’s candidates.
“Your excellency, from what we are seeing here today, I can tell you, that we are not surprised, as this is the evidence of the great work you and I, have done in this State,”
“With this mobilisation, I am truly convinced of our victory, of getting all our candidates elected at the polls.”
“I urge all members and supporters to make sure this is achieved by making use of their PVC, and cast their votes for our candidates.”
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ika North-East, secured a very big boost, as 8 candidates from some opposition parties in the area, dumped their ambitions to back the candidacy of the daughter of the State Governor, Mrs. Marylin Okowa-Daramola for the State Assembly Seat.
Those who dropped their ambitions to support Okowa-Daramola, were Mr. Andrew Akawe, of the Accord party, Comrade Daniel Darius Emelosi, Action Alliance, Mr. Eselenjor Abraham Chinedum, APM, Princess Nzeribe Ngozi, APP, Mr. Akawe Ewere, NNPP, Mr. Aliemeke Chibueze, NRM, Mr. Samuel Sylvanus, SDP and Mr. Uwazueke Emmanuel Ezi, Zenith Labour Party.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees and their supporters, the former candidate of the Accord party, Andrew Akawe, said that they took the decision to forego their ambitions, and to support the House of Assembly candidate of the PDP, as they had seen in her, the quality of a visionary leader.
“We decided to forego our ambitions because we saw in Mrs. Marylin Okowa-Daramola, a visionary leader, who will bring democracy to us, and we unanimously sat down and took the decision, and that is why we are here today.” He said.
Receiving leaders of the deceampees and their supporters, the Chairman of the PDP in Delta State, Barr. Kingsley Esiso thanked them for their decision to join the PDP in the State, he said that Ika people were fortunate to have produced the Governor and now the Vice-Presidential candidate of the party and urged them to vote 100 percent for the PDP to justify the party’s choice of Okowa as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate.
Speaking at the event, the Governor of Delta State, and the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa thanked the people of Ika Nation for their enormous support over the years, urging them to vote massively for the party, to justify his selection as the running mate to the Presidential Candidate of the party.
“You have always supported me throughout my political career and I have seen Ika people come out in great numbers in the past, but I have never seen this kind of crowd in our campaigns here.”
“I urge you all to justify my selection by ensuring that all our votes in Ika nation will go to the PDP and God will bless you as you continue to work hard for us to deliver in all the elections,” he stated. “
Also addressing the mammoth crowd, Director of the State’s Campaign Council, Chief Funkekeme Solomon, said that PDP built the country from 1999 to 2015, but regretted that APC had destroyed the country since it took over in 2015.
He, however, assured the people that PDP would restore the glory of the country and reset it for greater height and appealed to them to vote for the party.
The event was attended by many notable PDP members in the State.
