LAGOS/Nigeria: A 27-year-old man, Shola Ajayi, on Tuesday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing a Toyota Corolla worth two million Naira.
Ajayi, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Dr Simeon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with some others still at large, on Dec. 28, 2021, on Progressive Estate, Iba, Ojo, Lagos State.
Uche said that the car belonged to the complainant, Mr Abuchi Igbokwe, and had chasis number 2T1BR32E96C702602.
Uche said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 287 stipulates three years’ jail term for stealing, while Section 411 provides for two years’ imprisonment for conspiracy.
Magistrate Ademola Adesanya granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ademola adjourned the case until April 1 for mention.
