ASABA/Nigeria: Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has urged Nigerians to sustain their support for the Federal Government’s reforms, saying the hard times will, soon, give way to relief for citizens.
In a message to Nigerians on the nation’s 66th independence anniversary, Okowa commended the people for their resilience, especially in identifying with President Bola Tinubu’s efforts at addressing the socio-economic challenges that had plagued the country for a long time.
He remarked that ongoing reforms aimed at re-building the country were inevitable, and charged every citizen to participate in the process in the ways they could.
According to him, President Tinubu is doing everything possible to get the country out of the economic doldrums it had been in over a long period, and all he needs from us, as citizens, is support and sacrifices.
“The way to a desired destination is often strewn with difficulties, but with a well-articulated process and determination, hope turns into reality.
“This is the case with our dear country currently. As painful as the hardship and sacrifices may be, I join the President in appealing to Nigerians to be part of reform programmes”, Okowa said.
He expressed optimism that “the sacrifices of the citizenry, today, would secure a better Nigeria tomorrow”, adding that “Nigeria will be great again”.
The former governor admitted that there was still much work to be done to take the country to desired destination, and said that the journey required courage, unity and commitment to attain.
He congratulated Federal Government and all Nigerians on the anniversary, and sued the continued prayers for leaders and the followers “to enable to build a nation we and succeeding generations will be proud of.”
