ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has released the results of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The examination, which took place from July 05 to July 09, 2023, saw a total of 89,353 candidates participating.
According to the statement issued by Mr. Augustine Oghoro, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, an impressive 90% of the candidates, totaling 80,678 students, successfully passed the BECE.
The statement also revealed that 8% of the candidates, amounting to 6,713 individuals, will have to resit either the English Studies or Mathematics papers. Additionally, 1.0% (616 candidates) unfortunately failed the examination and will be required to repeat the class.
To access their individual results, the Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) from the 25 Local Government Areas are advised to visit the Department of Examinations and Standards on Monday, July 31st, where they can collect the necessary scratch cards for the candidates.
For those candidates who need to retake the examination, whether from public or private schools, a mandatory enrolment fee of Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira (₦2,500) will be required. The resit examinations are scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023.
This announcement serves as an important milestone for the education sector in Delta State, highlighting the efforts of both students and educators in achieving an encouraging pass rate in the 2023 BECE.
