The resident of Umuebu, in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State have lamented the lack of basic infrastructure in the community and said politicians should not border to come to their community to campaign for votes in the coming general elections.
The resident lamented that since Ukwuani Local Government as well as the State Government have abandoned them to their fate and refused to look into their several requests for the rehabilitation of the Umuebu/Obiaruku road which is the only link road to their community, they will not be willing to receive any team of politicians that would come to campaign in their area.
Speaking with the our correspondent during the weekend as the sons, daughters, friends and well-wishers of Umuebu Community were rushing to be a partaker of their Igba festival the people lamented that the only road that link their community had become impassable and dead trap to the users as armed robbers take the advantage of the bad state of the road to checkmate the users and rob them of their belongings, saying the residents had written several letters to relevant government organs for help to no avail.
They said the road to Umuebu is so bad that they can’t drive home and so, they often don’t take their cars home
According to many of the people of Umuebu, they said that they had written to government to come to their rescue but to no avail, hence members of the community therefore resolve on self help and on our own, we have in regular times be sand filling the road which up till today we are managing, and base on this attitude of government abandoning us as if we are not a citizens of this country, we have also resolved to stop political campaign.
