NPDC Commission 500kva Power Plant At Oviri-Olomu, Commends Community For Peace

OVIRI-OLOMU/Nigeria: The more than 9years power outage in Oviri-Olomu Community, in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State was yesterday, 27th January, 2022 put to an end with the official commissioning of the 500 KVA generating plant, donated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company NPDC, just as they commended the community for the peaceful atmosphere accorded them.

Speaking at the ceremony, the company representative, Mr Mutana Ogweda of the Asset Management Dept. OML65, said he was sent with special greetings from NPDC management to Oviri-Olomu Community for the peace accorded them since they started their operation.

Mr Ogweda commended the President General and his Exco and urged them to continue in the peace to get more benefits from NPDC.

He also thanked the contractor, that handled the project, Zelo Integrated Global Synergy LTD for doing a standard job, and even went extra mile to add things that were not in the original contractual agreement, saying that the project would stand the test of time.

While inaugurating the generating plant, Chief Christopher Otobrise of Community Relations Department, NPDC, emphasized the importance of electricity to the development of the economic life of a community.

Otobrise therefore called for proper management plan for the plant and recommend that the generator should be a legacy project, that 5 to 10yrs time, when they returned to the community, it should still be there and working.

He said whenever there were challenges in the area of maintenance, they should contact the contractor, Zelo Integrated Global Synergy LTD, that supplied the generator.

Earlier, the President General of the community, Chief John Ewenede JP, in his address said the occasion was historic as it had ended the problem of the over 9yrs of darkness in the community.

Ewenede commended NPDC for giving the community listening ears and Zelo Integrated Global Synergy LTD for the integrity displayed in the course of executing the project by sticking to the brand requested by the community.

Chief Paul Agboroh a retired Shell staff from the community however appealed to NPDC management to, in due course provide constant power supply to the community.

The project, according to the Managing Director, Zelo Integrated Global Synergy LTD, Mr Emmanuel Okoro, was executed at the cost of 65m.

Okoro explained that the project was facilitated by Chalvon Ltd, who interfaced between Zelo Integrated Global Synergy, Ltd, and NPDC for the speedy completion of the project and commended NPDC for the opportunity offered him to execute the project.
