Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Isaiah Bozimo, has described a retired State Counsel in the Department of Civil Litigations, Mr. Felix Akaeke, as a reliable and dependable staff of the Ministry of Justice, whose efforts and contributions are worthy of emulation.
Mr. Bozimo stated this in a Commendation Letter issued to the retiree on the occasion of his retirement from the Delta State Civil Service.
The Attorney-General congratulated Mr. Akaeke for his meritorious Service to the State and wished him success in his future endeavours.
Earlier, the Functioning Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Omamuzo Erebe, who represented the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice at the event, described Mr. Akaeke as a humble and dedicated State Counsel, who despite the fact that he was called to the Bar in 1984, related with his colleagues freely without any air of superiority.
He stated that Mr. Akaeke never complained whenever he was given an assignment to deliver.
“He did his job with utmost commitment, dedication, and dexterity expected of a civil servant” He added.
Mr. Erebe thanked God that Mr. Akaeke was leaving the Service in good health and with no adverse record against him throughout his service years, stressing that his good works were quite commendable.
In their separate remarks, some of his colleagues in the Ministry including Mr. H. Edema, Head of Asaba Zonal Office, and Mr. Sunday Monye, the Director of Civil Litigations, recalled how the retiree worked so hard in various Zones and Departments he was posted to.
Mrs Efe Jesin Odogwu, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mrs Rita Abidemi Ekpemina, Director of legal Drafting and Thomas Anigara Esq, the immediate past Chairman of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOANS), Delta State Chapter, also extolled the sterling qualities of Mr Akaeke which stood him out amongst other staff in the Ministry.
They praised Mr. Akaeke for his effective and efficient service delivery in the Ministry, adding that the Ministry would miss him.
Mr. Akaeke told journalists in an interview session that he was admitted to the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University Ife, to read History, but due to his performance in his 100 level result, he decided to change to read Law, a course he completed in 1983 and was called to the Bar in 1984.
He stated that he has never regretted his decision to read Law.
On his Service as a State Counsel, he stated that he enjoyed every minute of his time at the Ministry of Justice which was very fulfilling.
He admonished those still serving to continue to take their work seriously as service to the State was an honour.
He described the Attorney-General of the State as a kind-hearted man who had transformed the Ministry to an enviable height, especially through several capacity-building programmes for legal and non-legal staff of the Ministry.
He commended the entire staff of the Ministry including the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Omamuzo Erebe Esq for the show of love accorded him and his family with the wonderful retirement party organised in his honour while praying that they too would be remembered on their retirement day.
Mr. Akaeke, who was accompanied to the occasion by his lovely wife Mrs. Jennifer Akaeke was presented with numerous gifts by the Staff of the Ministry who attended the event.
