ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Government (DTSG) has urged teachers in the state to always discharge their duties with utmost commitment for the overall benefit of society.
The State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu gave advice while monitoring the level of compliance by teachers, pupils and students with the resumption of 2022/2023 Second Term academic activities.
Mrs. Ezewu, who said that there need for teachers to upscale their efforts in service delivery, noted that the Okowa led administration had continued to prioritise the education system with the transformation of the sector.
While expressing satisfaction with the level of compliance so far, Mrs Ezewu called on parents to consider the educational needs of their children as the top priority to them.
Mrs Ezewu, however, enjoined students to embrace reading culture at all times, adding that it was through a committed approach to their studies that a brighter future could be guaranteed for them.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Primary Education, Chief Sunday Onoriode has also monitored the resumption of the Second Term in some public primary schools across the state.
In his remarks, Chief Onoriode said that the monitoring according to him was a routine exercise aimed at ascertaining the rate of compliance by teachers and pupils with the resumption date.
Chief Onoriode, who told the school heads and teachers that they were important stakeholders in the task of taking the education sector to an enviable height, urged them to redouble their commitment towards achieving the objectives.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Augustine Oghoro, who monitored various parts of the state reiterated the State Government’s avowed commitment to leave behind endearing legacies in the education system.
Mr. Oghoro advised teachers to brace up for effective service delivery, adding that it was incumbent on them to give their best to the children just as he noted that the State Government had made the school environment conducive to reaching and learning.
Speaking separately to newsmen in Asaba, the Principal of Westend Nixed Secondary School, Mrs Augusta Ogeh and the Principal of Government Model Secondary School, Asaba, Dr. Mrs Obiajulu Chinyere Eboka said that they had commenced with the cleaning of the school environment, adding that they had told the teachers to give the students scheme of work on their first day of resumption.
Mrs. Ogeh and Dr. Mrs. Eboka pledged to put every measure in place to ensure that their teachers carried out their official duties as expected, stressing that classes would begin immediately.
