ASABA/Nigeria: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has extended warm congratulations to Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, his predecessor, as he celebrates his 64th birthday on July 8.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori commended Senator Okowa for his invaluable contributions to the development of the state and the nation at large.
Governor Oborevwori expressed his appreciation to the former governor for his support in ensuring a seamless transition and for endorsing him as a worthy successor. He emphasized that Senator Okowa’s instrumental role in the achievement of Universal Health Coverage for both the people of Delta State and the entire nation was remarkable and unforgettable.
The governor acknowledged that Senator Okowa’s SMART and Stronger Delta Agenda had laid a solid foundation for his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda to thrive in the state. He stated, “My dear leader and boss, I must commend you for your selflessness and remarkable achievements in the advancement of our beloved state.”
Governor Oborevwori also credited the outstanding performance of Senator Okowa’s administration across the state as a significant contributing factor to their victory in the elections. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Delta State for their unwavering support of their party, the PDP.
Highlighting the former governor’s impressive accomplishments, Governor Oborevwori said, “Your Excellency, you have set an exceptional standard by delivering over 2,000 kilometers of roads and drainage systems during your eight-year tenure. This record will require the grace of God to surpass.”
The governor further praised Senator Okowa for elevating Delta State as a leading state and a trailblazer in Contributory Health Insurance nationwide. He pledged to sustain and expand this initiative, especially targeting individuals in the informal sector who are in need of health coverage.
Governor Oborevwori also commended Senator Okowa for his extensive empowerment and job creation programs, which directly and indirectly benefited over 200,000 youths in the state. He acknowledged the former governor’s legendary contributions to peace in Delta State and the Niger Delta region.
