What the people is Expecting from the conference
The people of Ndokwa are not informed about the forthcoming event and expectations, it was discovered that of the People are not aware of the conference. Apart from the talk of it on a closed social network called Ndokwa Web and Facebook and with all the arguments and counter arguments, people of Ndokwa is not informed of the apex body’s plans.
For such an Event to take place successfully, every person, groups, organisations or societies should be well informed ahead of time, but it looks the organising committee was not much keen of the need for good publicity.
The investigation however revealed that the Ndokwa People are ready for Change. They are ready to have a body that will always speak for them. And many also feel that the so called Leadership problem in the land can be solved if the different groups in the land will come together and register under NNU. Be it Ukwuani Foundation Union (UDU), Ndokwa Leaders Forum (NLF), Ndokwa Stakeholders Political Forum (NSPF), The Ndokwa Market Women Association (NMWA), or the Ndokwa Youth Council (NYC).
The people we spoke to talked on the their expectations and that of entire Ndokwa people for the Conference
The Foundation Laying of the Country Club/Secretariat will be a thing of Joy -Chief Oyibosochukwu:
Chief Oyibosochukwu look forward to the foundation laying stone of the County club/Secretariat in Kwale as an epic event, and it is his greatest expectation and fulfillment; he also expects that the final ratification of the NNU Constitution at the event will finally create a strong base for the future of the Union and the people of Ndokwa. Politically, he predicts a better future for the Ndokwa people, which according to him is now the epic centre of Politics in Delta State. To him the time for the Conference is a good one, and in all, the present team of executive should be encouraged.
There should be gender Equality in Ndokwa – Hon. (Barr) N. O. Omude,
Speaking on the forth coming Conference, Hon. (Barr) Ngozi O. Omude expressed her happiness on the new look of NNU. According to her, the body as been led by Pharm P. O. Enebeli is bringing the Ndokwa people to a better focus. She asked for total support from all Ndokwa man and women to see that the Executive Achieve their set agenda’s.
However, she calls on the organisers, the NNU, to use the conference as a base to see that some issues that had adversely pulled the people of Ndokwa backward will be addressed.
According to her such issue as political offices in the Nation, to her, Ndokwa people are not poor. The conference should come out with organs to make the Ndokwa Man more focused politically, to seek and contest for elective offices, and also call all the camps together when it comes to serious political matters.
Speaking further, she looks forward to see that at the end of the conference, the Ndokwa people will see the need to join hands in the Physical development of their home town and not staying away.
The conference should be able to address the issue of infrastructural development of the area by the Ndokwa people, because, according to her the conference will be harvest of people who will attend from all work of life.
She also spoke on proper education and enlightment in Ndokwa communities, especially the communities where there are oil companies operating to stop the divide and rule system they are using to operate in these communities. The conference should be able to come out with directives to the communities to have a constitution on tenureship of the elected executives, which also will be embedded into the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to be signed with the companies and the companies should be made to develop the host communities.
She is also calling on the attention of the Conference Organisers on the issue of gender in-balance in Ndokwa Land, especially in the Youth Organisations and the Community Development Committee (CDC). To her, there is no single Woman in the CDC, the conference should address this, she concluded that the NNU as a body, be the champion of the culture and tradition of the Ndokwa people, frowned at communities who deprive their people the opportunity to earn a better living by selling off job slots from companies operating in their domains.
I am Not Aware – Mr. Theophilus-PDP Chairman Ndokwa West.
The PDP Chairman in Ndokwa west Mr. Theophilus was more than surprised that such event is being organised and the publicity two weeks to the event is not made. However, he praised the present Executive of NNU and called on the Ndokwa people to support the Executives and the Conference Organisers.
Speaking further, he says that he expects that at the end of the conference, the issue of marginalisation should be properly addressed. To him the people of Ndokwa through their attitude to leadership imposition inflicts the backward development on themselves. The individual claim by some as leaders of Ndokwa Nation should be curtailed. Ndokwa people should, after the conference look up to whoever that is democratically elected as the President – General of NNU as the leader of Ndokwa Nation and the body sole representative of the people and not as it happened recently at the National Conference Interactive session in Benin where other groups went to represent the Ndokwa voices and not NNU.
NNU Should be More Focused in Development -Mr. Francis Enebeli.
To the Secretary of Ndokwa Organisation in Uk (East), Mr Francis Enebeli, NNU as an organ is not doing much for the people in the area of peoples development. He decried the attitudes of personal enrichment forgetting the deprived people of Ndokwa nation. Mr Enebeli who spoke to Ndokwa Reporters on phone from his base in the United Kingdom, calls for refocus of this orgranisation to see that the people of Ndokwa see to the development of the area when voted into the offices or when they have the opportunity.
The Associations of Ndokwa sons and daughters USA: The Ndokwa Sons and daughters in an email detailed the following
1. NNU as an organization representing the Ndokwa People
It is laudable that a group of patriotic Ukwuani and Ndosimili citizens had the foresight to create an umbrella body to struggle for the interest of the Ndokwa People. The original mission and vision are also laudable. It is in the implementation of the mission and vision that the organization has faced some challenges. The ability of an organization to realize its goals lies mostly on the philosophy of the founders and the structure that they leave behind for posterity. Although NNU was envisioned as the representative of the people at the highest level, it has not been able to connect with the people it sought to represent. Knowledge of the existence of NNU among the Ukwuani and the Ndosimili peoples exists mostly among the elite that formed it. This makes it imperative that NNU, as an organization, must work harder at sensitizing the ordinary folks as to its existence. Thus, the revival and the introduction of NNU to the people it represents are the main tasks facing it. It must accomplish this task to get the right to bear the title of the apex body for the Ukwuani and Ndosimili peoples, who invariably own the Union.
2. The position of NNU and the economic and political development of Ndokwa people in Delta State and the Nation
The mission and vision statements of NNU clearly make its position clear, vis-à-vis economic and political development at all levels. NNU has not found its feet since its formation to be able to articulate these positions to the point that the average Ndokwa citizen recognizes its value as an apex body. Certain conditions must prevail within NNU body for it to thrive. Unity is key to the success or failure of any organization. There must be sincerity of purpose among the Executive members of NNU for it to faithfully deliver on the twin positions stated earlier. NNU must provide the leadership necessary for developing all-encompassing political, economic, and social policies for all the constituent local governments of Ndokwa.
3. What should be the action of the NNU and the political office holders?
NNU and political office holders must work hand in glove, no matter which political party that office holder may belong to, in the planning, advocacy, and implementation of policies, strategies and development goals for Ndokwa. Ndokwa should always come first before personal interests. Our loyalty should be to our Ndokwa brethren and organizations first, the LGA, the state, the nation, and then party, in that order.
Lastly, understanding that Ndokwa Association In America, Inc. is apolitical, as required by our organizing documents and the laws of the United States, we wish NNU well in its endeavors and we support its non-political efforts, as our fate and theirs are linked in the struggle to better the lives of our people.
The conference should be able to come out with a political direction for the Ndokwa people -Dr. Barrister Nwachukwu.
The conference should be able to come out with a political direction for the Ndokwa people come 2015. Apart from other things, it should create a voice for the people and from the conference and other gatherings, NNU should focus in promoting the Ndokwa Agenda into the Executive office of the state. However, the body should not see the emergence of other associations within Ndokwa as a threat of trying to take over the mantle of leadership as the apex body of the Ndokwa people.
Again, from the conference, we should ask the question how other nationalities are progressing with many organisations and are surviving as a people.
I am happy with the new Look of the NNU – President Obiaruku Development Union.
The Leadership of the NNU as led by Pharm P. O. Enebeli is doing well and I am also very happy for the fourth coming convention. Most of all the ground breaking for the foundation of the NNU Secretariat is a thing of Joy. The constitution ratification will make this body to have a full organ to work with. My expectation at the end of the conference is to see a well-developed Ndokwa nation and people.
