LAGOS/Nigeria: Fidelity Bank Plc, a top financial institution in Nigeria, has donated maternity kits to expectant mothers in Aiyetoro, Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State. This gesture forms part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts under its Fidelity Helping Hands Program (FHHP).
The initiative, led by the Crestcore Inductees Class, showcases Fidelity Bank’s commitment to giving back to local communities. Through FHHP, employees of the bank identify meaningful projects within their communities and raise funds to support them. The bank’s management then matches the funds, doubling the impact of each contribution.
The donation ceremony took place at Aiyetoro Primary Health Centre, Wright Street, Adekunle, Yaba. Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand & Communications at Fidelity Bank Plc, handed over the maternity kits to the community.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Nwagboh emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “At Fidelity Bank, we understand that health is the foundation of success. Sadly, financial challenges often stop women from accessing crucial antenatal care, a key factor in reducing maternal mortality. Today, we are here to support these women with essential maternity kits, hoping it encourages more of them to seek regular antenatal care.”
Dr. S.O. Oredein, Medical Officer of Health for Yaba LCDA, received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries and praised Fidelity Bank for its continuous support. “Fidelity Bank has once again demonstrated its care for the community by providing these maternity kits. This contribution will encourage more expectant mothers to visit health centers, playing a significant role in reducing maternal mortality.”
One of the beneficiaries, Sekinat Aderoju, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are deeply thankful to Fidelity Bank for their generosity. These maternity kits will ease the financial burden on us and help ensure safer deliveries.”
Fidelity Bank’s donation falls under its Health/Social Welfare CSR pillar, one of several initiatives that also include Education, Youth Empowerment, and Environmental Sustainability.
Ranked as one of Nigeria’s top banks, Fidelity Bank Plc serves over 8.3 million customers through its 251 branches in Nigeria and the UK, as well as through digital banking platforms. The bank has earned several awards, including the Export Finance Bank of the Year at the 2023 BusinessDay BAFI Awards, and Best SME Bank Nigeria 2022 by Global Banking and Finance Awards.
