Stop Distracting Tinubu and Governors With 2027 Politics, Mulade Warns Political Jobbers

ABUJA/Nigeria: Renowned Niger Delta-born human rights activist and development advocate, Chief Comrade Sheriff Mulade, has cautioned political actors and job seekers against distracting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and state governors from the urgent task of governance.

Speaking in Abuja, Mulade, who is the Ibe Serimowei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, urged highly placed individuals to desist from premature politicking and selfish endorsements aimed at safeguarding personal interests ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I appeal to highly placed Nigerians to stop distracting the President and Governors over 2027 elections, which is still over two years away, simply because of their selfish interest to protect their positions and contracts at the detriment of our national development,” he said.

Mulade, a peace and environmental justice advocate, stressed that President Tinubu, having spent less than two years in office, should be allowed to focus on fulfilling his electoral promises rather than being lured into unnecessary political calculations.

“It is imperative to state that the President is barely two years in office and has not yet delivered on his electioneering promises, yet he is being distracted by persons promoting their own selfish ambitions. These mischievous political endorsements are doing more harm than good,” he said.

He warned that such distractions only derail governance and slow down the delivery of critical reforms under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Mulade called on well-meaning Nigerians to reject sycophancy and embrace patriotism, adding that the path to credible re-election lies in performance and public trust, not in orchestrated endorsements or political drama.

He further urged President Tinubu to be wary of praise singers and political opportunists who do not have the interest of Nigerians at heart, and to instead channel energy towards addressing pressing issues such as insecurity, poverty, bad governance, and economic hardship.

“Mr. President does not need these distracting and mischievous political endorsements to be re-elected. If he delivers on his promises, Nigerians will return him willingly,” he concluded.
