ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated 24 newly commissioned military officers of Delta origin who were decorated with the ranks of lieutenants and flying officers at the Passing Out Parade of the 72 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna on Saturday.
Represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman of the State Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, Barr. ThankGod Trakiriowei Harry, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to human capacity development and creating opportunities for gainful employment for youths across the state.
Oborevwori commended the officers for their resilience, dedication, and professional discipline during their training at the nation’s foremost military institution. He noted that their new status as commissioned officers made them “special citizens” with the responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity, adding that Delta State was proud of their achievement.
At a state dinner in their honour at Stonehedge Hotel, Kaduna, the governor presented special packages to the officers and urged them to serve the nation with distinction while upholding the values of patriotism, loyalty, and integrity.
“On behalf of the good people of Delta State, I congratulate the newly commissioned 24 officers from our state. As a government, we have achieved so much in just two years and five months, making Delta the fourth-largest economy in Nigeria. Careers in the military and paramilitary services are prestigious, financially rewarding, and align with our human capacity development and job creation programmes under the MORE Agenda,” Oborevwori stated.
The governor encouraged Delta youths to take advantage of ongoing recruitment exercises in the Nigerian Armed Forces, including the Nigerian Air Force Direct Short Service and the Nigerian Army 90th Regular Recruits Intake, stressing that his administration would continue to support young people pursuing careers in the military and paramilitary services.
Flying Officer P.E. Ejiviejor, speaking on behalf of the newly commissioned officers, expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for identifying with them and for hosting the Delta contingent to a state dinner. He praised the governor for being the first democratically elected leader of Delta State to openly celebrate with cadets of Delta origin at the NDA Passing Out Parade.
“This is the very first time our state government has sent a delegation to the NDA to celebrate with her own. We are overwhelmed with joy and we will not take it for granted. We promise to work hard, serve Nigeria diligently, and make Delta proud,” Ejiviejor said.
The Delta delegation to the NDA Passing Out Parade included Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director-General of the State Orientation and Communications Bureau; Dr. Ngozi Mogbolu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development; Mr. Theophilus Chukwudi Aguonye, Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Political and Security Services; Rev.
