ASABA/Nigeria: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State on Sunday highlighted his administration’s massive infrastructure and development strides, affirming that prudent management of resources and ongoing national reforms were yielding tangible results across the state.
Speaking during a well-attended All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting held at the State Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba, the Governor outlined key projects including the ₦59 billion Uromi Junction Flyover, the ₦39 billion Ughelli Flyover, and the forthcoming groundbreaking of the Warri/Sapele Road rehabilitation.
“This is the only state where contractors are not owed. We pay 40 percent mobilization upfront because we manage our resources efficiently. The President’s reforms are working, and Delta is reaping the benefits,” Oborevwori stated.
The Governor commended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as “a man who rewards loyalty, commitment, and results.” He assured that his administration would remain steadfast in delivering the dividends of democracy and sustaining Delta’s growth trajectory.
“In 2027, our votes will be our report card. Those who claim to love the President must prove it through the ballot. I won 21 out of 25 local governments in the last election because we worked hard and stayed loyal. That’s what real commitment means,” he declared.
Oborevwori also warned against internal disloyalty, saying, “Some in power today didn’t work for the APC, but we know them. When the time comes, we’ll expose them. This time, loyalty will be rewarded, not hypocrisy.” He urged party leaders to remain united and prioritize collective success over personal ambition.
The Governor’s remarks set the tone for a meeting that ended with a resounding political statement. The Delta State APC unanimously passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, adopting both as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The motion was moved by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, and seconded by former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei.
Keyamo praised President Tinubu’s “bold reforms and transformative leadership,” describing the removal of fuel subsidy as a responsible policy decision that redirected billions into critical infrastructure. “Just two days ago, Mr. President approved $1 billion for the resuscitation of the Warri Port and other national projects, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal road and the Lagos Airport rebuild. These are direct results of prudent management and reform savings,” he said.
He also lauded Governor Oborevwori for his visionary leadership and infrastructural drive across Delta, stressing that both the President and the Governor had proven to be “leaders of integrity and impact.”
Seconding the motion, Rt. Hon. Ochei hailed Tinubu and Oborevwori for their inclusive governance and developmental focus. “The people of Delta State and the South-South stand firmly behind the President and Governor for their vision for a renewed Nigeria and a transformed Delta,” he declared.
In his goodwill message, immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, described the April 28, 2025 mass defection into the APC as “a defining moment in the state’s political evolution.” He said the party had grown stronger and more united under Oborevwori’s leadership.
“Joining the APC was the right step in the right direction. The party is now more cohesive and better positioned for victory in 2027,” Okowa stated. He urged leaders to continue sensitizing citizens on the long-term gains of Tinubu’s economic reforms.
APC State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, in his welcome address, said the Governor’s performance had made the party “formidable and unstoppable,” insisting that anyone planning to challenge Oborevwori in 2027 “will meet a brick wall.”
Other party leaders across the three senatorial districts — including Chief Paulinus Akpeki, Chief Adizue Eluaka, and Austin Oribioye — reaffirmed unity within the party, pledging total commitment to the 2027 victory project.
National Assembly members present, including Senators Ede Dafinone, Ned Nwoko, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, and Hon. Nicholas Mutu, jointly declared that “there is no vacancy till 2031,” vowing to keep working in the interest of their constituents and the APC.
Prominent figures such as Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, and Senator James Manager also affirmed that there was “no opposition to Oborevwori in 2027,” promising massive electoral support for him and the President.
ALGON representative and Bomadi Council Chairman, Hon. Dagidi Andaye, assured that all council chairmen were fully committed to the party’s success, while former National Women Leader, Hon. Stella Okotete, called for increased women’s participation, noting that women account for over half of the voting population.
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, pledged the full backing of the legislature for the Governor and the President, promising continued collaboration to deliver democratic dividends.
As the meeting ended, the mood was one of celebration and renewed unity, with party leaders and supporters chanting solidarity songs and reaffirming confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 polls.
