ASABA/Nigeria: Veteran boardroom leader and founding chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun Otega Emerhor, OON, has congratulated the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., on his conferment with the Iconic Media Strategist Award by the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM).

In a goodwill message personally signed by him and made available to journalists in Asaba on Saturday, Emerhor described Dr. Oghenesivbe as a “reliable, dependable and trusted communication strategist,” recalling his outstanding performance as Director of Media and Political Communications during the 2015 governorship campaign.

According to him, Oghenesivbe’s professional dedication and creative prowess helped project his campaign “to an enviable height,” adding that his growth in the field of communications since joining the Delta State Government in 2017 has been remarkable.

The APC stalwart, who is also Group Chairman of the Standard Alliance Group, commended Governors Sheriff Oborevwori and Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for giving Oghenesivbe opportunities to serve the state in various capacities, particularly as Executive Assistant on Communications and now Director General of the Bureau for Orientation and Communications.

Emerhor praised Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to human capital development, saying his administration has demonstrated strong will in building the capacity of political appointees and civil servants. He urged Oghenesivbe to remain steadfast in his service and continue to project the achievements of the present administration.

“Fred, I congratulate you as our brand-new Iconic Media Strategist. The award is well deserved, considering your sound academic background, hard work, and loyalty to Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda. Working with you was a great delight, and I am proud of your achievements,” Emerhor said.

He added that Oghenesivbe has nurtured the Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop (DELCOM) from inception to its current success, expressing confidence that subsequent editions will surpass previous ones.

Meanwhile, the Iconic Media Strategist Award was formally presented to Dr. Oghenesivbe by the CIISM at the closing ceremony of the 6th edition of DELCOM 2025 in Asaba.

The President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institute, Dr. (Mrs.) Temile Oritseweyinmi, commended Oghenesivbe’s exceptional contributions to strategic communication and media management, describing him as one of the finest professionals in the field.

She noted that DELCOM has become a model platform for training government spokespersons, political appointees, and media professionals, attracting some of Nigeria’s top communication scholars and practitioners as facilitators.

“The Institute is proud to be associated with DELCOM 2025, and we recognize Dr. Oghenesivbe’s hard work, consistency, and professional excellence,” she said.

In his response, Dr. Oghenesivbe expressed gratitude to CIISM for the honour, describing the award as “a pleasant surprise.” He thanked Governor Oborevwori for his continuous support and acknowledged former Governor Okowa for approving the inaugural DELCOM in 2019.

He disclosed that preparations were already underway for DELCOM 2026, which would be expanded to include participants from across the South-South region, alongside private-sector professionals and media stakeholders.

“I am delighted to receive this honour, and I dedicate it to God Almighty. I appreciate my leader and governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his support and confidence in my capacity to deliver. DELCOM 7th edition will host South-South spokespersons, communication strategists, and journalists as we continue to promote excellence in public communication,” Oghenesivbe said.
