The Assasinated All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Mr. Ese Idisi

ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ede Dafinone has strongly condemned the brutal killing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Mr. Ese Idisi, describing the incident as shocking, devastating, and a grave assault on the peace of Delta State.

In a statement issued on Monday, Senator Dafinone said he was “deeply shocked, sad and utterly condemn the brutal killing” of the grassroots leader, noting that the act has thrown the APC family and the entire Ethiope East community into mourning. He described the late Idisi as a loyal and committed party man who served with unwavering dedication and belief in democratic values.

“The murder of Mr. Idisi is not only a tragic loss to his family and our party but also to Delta State,” the senator said. “He was a dedicated party man who served with loyalty, commitment, and an unwavering belief in democracy.”

Senator Dafinone called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to immediately launch a full-scale, transparent, and uncompromising investigation into what he termed a heinous crime. He stressed that those responsible must be identified, apprehended, and prosecuted without delay.

“Justice must not only be served—it must be seen to be served,” he added.

Appealing for calm across Ethiope East and within the APC family, the Delta Central lawmaker urged party supporters and residents to avoid acts of violence or retaliation, warning that taking the law into their own hands would only worsen the situation.

“This is a moment that demands calm, restraint, and faith in the justice system,” he said. “Violence will only deepen our wounds and distract us from the urgent task of ensuring justice for Mr. Idisi.”

He also called on community leaders, youths, and stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist investigations, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.

On behalf of his family and political associates, Senator Dafinone extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the APC leadership in Delta State, and the people of Ethiope East.

“His death is a colossal loss, and we stand with all who mourn him. May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may justice prevail,” he concluded.
