
IBUSA/Nigeria: The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Chapter, has commended Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for providing a conducive environment for media practitioners to thrive, describing his administration as one that promotes press freedom and grassroots communication.
The commendation came during the 2025 ACNPN Publishers Week, Lecture and Award Ceremony held on Thursday in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area, where the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, received a distinguished merit award for his outstanding dedication to journalism and exceptional service as the Governor’s spokesperson.
Presenting the award, Member representing Oshimili North in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwah, praised the veteran journalist for his professionalism, while also highlighting the partnership between the media and government in advancing transparency.
Sir Ahon, represented by Assistant Director of Information, Mr. Ivovi Aruoriwo, expressed gratitude to the association, stating that the recognition would further drive his commitment to media excellence. “An award of this nature serves as a powerful motivator, encouraging me to stay on track, uphold my values and strive for excellence in all my endeavours,” he said, dedicating it to God, Governor Oborevwori, media aides and colleagues.
Earlier, State ACNPN Chairman, Comrade Ike Abiagom, said the event signified the association’s resolve to promote community journalism and deepen its impact on grassroots development, reaffirming their dedication to informing, educating and empowering communities.
