Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara

PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged residents of the state to embrace peace, unity and religious tolerance as they celebrate the 2025 Christmas season, stressing that collective harmony remains the foundation for sustainable development and shared prosperity.

In a Christmas message to the people of Rivers State, Governor Fubara congratulated residents on witnessing the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, describing the season as one of hope, renewal and thanksgiving. He said Christmas represents a profound expression of God’s boundless love and His enduring gift of peace to humanity.

The governor called on citizens to reflect on the virtues exemplified by Jesus Christ—love, humility, sacrifice and compassion—and allow these values to guide their conduct towards one another, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

Fubara emphasised the need for religious tolerance and mutual support, urging residents to recommit themselves to being their brother’s keeper, particularly in the face of prevailing socio-economic challenges confronting the nation.

According to him, the progress and stability of Rivers State are firmly anchored on unity and harmony among its people. He reaffirmed his commitment to the Rivers First agenda, noting that peace remains central to his administration’s drive for inclusive development.

“Only in a united and stable Rivers State can we build critical infrastructure, strengthen our economy and secure the prosperous future that every citizen deserves,” the governor said.

He further appealed to residents to replace discord with dialogue and understanding, warning that division undermines collective aspirations. The governor also urged citizens to remain security-conscious, describing vigilance, cooperation and mutual respect as shared responsibilities critical to safeguarding the state.

As the festivities continue, Governor Fubara prayed for joy and love in the homes of Rivers people, expressing optimism that the spirit of Christmas would transcend ethnic and religious boundaries.

He wished residents a peaceful and harmonious Christmas celebration and a smooth transition into a prosperous 2026 marked by purpose, progress and breakthroughs for Rivers State.
