
ASABA/Nigeria: The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed shock and deep sadness over the death of Mr. Sunday Ndidi, father of Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, describing the incident as a painful loss to the bereaved family, the Umunede community, and the entire Ika Nation.
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori described the passing as sudden and heartbreaking, noting that the loss had been deeply felt beyond the immediate family.
The governor extended his heartfelt condolences to Wilfred Ndidi, members of the Ndidi family, and the people of Umunede, urging them to find solace in the life, values, and legacy left behind by the deceased.
According to reports, Mr. Sunday Ndidi, a retired military officer, died in a fatal road accident on Tuesday in Umunede, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State. He was said to have been rushed to a hospital in Agbor, where he was later confirmed dead.
The tragic development has continued to draw widespread sympathy from within and outside the state, including from Wilfred Ndidi’s club side, Besiktas, which confirmed the death in a statement released on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
Governor Oborevwori prayed that God grants the Ndidi family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grants the soul of the departed eternal rest.
