BURUTU/Nigeria: A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Thompson Fuoye, has formally declared his intention to contest the Burutu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections, pledging transparent leadership and people-focused representation.

Fuoye, a former Special Assistant on Community and Rural Development to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, made his declaration during a meeting with the executive and members of the APC in Burutu Local Government Area.

Addressing party stakeholders, supporters, community leaders and members of the Burutu APC executive, Fuoye said his decision to seek election into the National Assembly was driven by a strong determination to attract greater federal government presence and development to the oil-rich constituency.

The petroleum economist and philanthropist, who hails from Ward 3 in Burutu Local Government Area, described leadership as a sacred responsibility and an opportunity to positively impact the lives of the people.

According to him, his aspiration was inspired by what he termed a call to serve the people of Burutu Federal Constituency and to provide a stronger voice capable of advancing the developmental needs of the area, particularly the riverine communities in Burutu South.

Fuoye noted that his background as an Ijaw man born in Northern Nigeria and educated in the South-West has equipped him with the exposure and capacity to build bridges across regions and effectively lobby for the interests of his constituency at the national level.

He assured constituents that if elected, he would remain accessible, accountable and transparent in the discharge of his legislative responsibilities.

The APC chieftain pledged to serve as a bridge between the people and government while championing policies and initiatives that would promote peace, unity and sustainable development in the constituency.

Fuoye also outlined key areas that would form the focus of his legislative agenda, including education, healthcare, infrastructure development and economic empowerment.

He stressed the need to create more opportunities for youths, empower women and support vulnerable groups within the constituency as part of efforts to improve the overall socio-economic wellbeing of the people.

In their remarks, the Chairman of the APC in Burutu Local Government Area, Comrade Seikemiengha Moni, and the Director-General of the ONE-ON-ONE Progressive Grassroots Crusaders Movement, Comrade Caulmah Ebikonbowei David, called on party members and residents of the constituency to rally behind Fuoye’s aspiration.

They emphasized that unity and collective support among party faithful would strengthen the APC’s chances in future elections within the constituency.

The party leaders also urged members to remain committed and work together to ensure electoral success for the APC, even as the Burutu APC chairman assured aspirants of a level playing field in the party’s internal processes.

Both leaders expressed confidence in Fuoye’s leadership capacity and political experience, noting that the party in the local government area believes he possesses the qualities required to provide effective representation and attract meaningful development to Burutu Federal Constituency.
