WARRI/Nigeria: A prominent Niger Delta activist and development advocate, Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff, has formally declared his intention to represent the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, pledging a people-driven agenda anchored on sustainable development, economic empowerment and inclusive governance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The United Nations Peace Ambassador and Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, who made his position known in a statement on Tuesday, called on voters across the constituency to rally behind what he described as a credible and community-rooted candidacy capable of delivering responsive and accountable representation at the National Assembly.
Mulade, widely known for his advocacy on environmental justice and peace-building in the Niger Delta, said his aspiration is driven by a commitment to translate years of activism into legislative action that directly benefits the people.
He assured constituents that his representation, if elected, would prioritise unity, accessibility and practical interventions aimed at improving livelihoods, particularly in riverine communities often affected by environmental and infrastructural challenges.
According to him, his legislative agenda would focus on economic empowerment, job creation, skill acquisition and policies that promote sustainable development across the Warri axis.
The activist further emphasised the need for issue-based political engagement as the election cycle approaches, urging politicians and their supporters to avoid divisive rhetoric and campaign strategies rooted in personal attacks.
He warned that politics of bitterness and misinformation could deepen divisions within communities, stressing that elections should not erode the collective identity of the people.
Mulade maintained that his vision for the constituency includes deliberate policies targeted at empowering youths, supporting women and providing social protection for the elderly, whom he described as the most vulnerable segments of society.
He noted that meaningful representation must go beyond rhetoric to delivering measurable outcomes that uplift communities and strengthen local economies.
Reiterating his appeal to voters, he described the 2027 elections as an opportunity for the people of Warri Federal Constituency to make a decisive choice that would shape their future.
Mulade added that his track record in advocacy, peace-building and community engagement positions him as a candidate prepared to offer pragmatic solutions and effective representation at the federal level.
