ABUJA/Nigeria: Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has described the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries in Delta State as the best conducted by the party since its establishment in the state, while congratulating the winners of the exercise.
Keyamo specifically hailed the emergence of Ifeanyi Okowa for Delta North Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone for Delta Central, and Joel-Onowakpo Thomas for Delta South, describing their victories as “resounding” and well deserved.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the minister said the primary election witnessed an impressive turnout of what he described as “truly organic voters and members” of the APC across various wards in Delta State.

According to him, the exercise reflected genuine internal democracy and broad participation by party members.

“I can state unequivocally that this is the best primaries organised by the party in the state since its inception,” Keyamo stated.
The minister, who identified himself as a foundation member and leader of the APC in Delta State, urged aspirants who were unsuccessful in the contest to accept the outcome in the spirit of sportsmanship and unite with the winners ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He also called on the victorious candidates to be magnanimous by embracing their opponents and supporters within the party fold.
“There is always strength in unity,” he added.Keyamo further commended Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as purposeful and inclusive governance, saying the governor’s leadership style had further strengthened the APC in the state ahead of future elections.

He described Oborevwori’s leadership as “second to none” and expressed confidence that the governor would secure victory in the 2027 elections.

The minister also appreciated Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting internal democracy within the APC nationwide and allowing what he termed a free and transparent process during the primaries.

He took a swipe at politicians who, according to him, ignored grassroots leaders and relied on influence from Abuja to secure party tickets, noting that the outcome of the primaries reaffirmed the importance of grassroots mobilisation and consultations.

Keyamo concluded by urging APC members and supporters across the country to remain united and focused ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing optimism that victory remained achievable for the ruling party.
