ISIOKOLO/Nigeria: Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has begun a fresh round of consultations with All Progressives Congress leaders and ward executives in Ethiope East Local Government Area as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
Dafinone met with the APC local government and ward executives on Monday at the Council Hall in Isiokolo, where discussions centred on strengthening the party’s grassroots organisation and improving coordination among its structures ahead of the elections.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Augustine Ogedegbe, APC local government chairman, Chief Midwest Iboyetete, party executives and other leaders and stakeholders.
Dafinone urged the executives to deepen their engagement with members and take the party’s programmes and message to communities across the local government.
He also used the meeting to highlight some of the interventions and opportunities he said his office had facilitated in Delta Central, including employment opportunities, empowerment programmes, infrastructure and other constituency-related interventions.
The senator, who is seeking another term representing Delta Central, also spoke about his activities in the National Assembly and outlined areas he intends to pursue if returned to the Senate in 2027.
He called for greater cooperation among party members, saying sustained engagement at ward and local government levels would be important to the party’s electoral preparations.
The Ethiope East engagement was preceded by a meeting between Dafinone and Chief Love Ojakovo, a prominent APC leader in the area, at Ojakovo’s residence.
Dafinone said the discussion with Ojakovo focused on the future of Delta Central and ways of advancing the interests of its people.
“Today, I met with Chief Love Ojakovo at his residence. We had a meaningful and engaging conversation on the future of Delta Central and the steps we must take to advance the interests of our people,” Dafinone said.
He added that he remained committed to consulting and working with party leaders and other stakeholders across the senatorial district.
The engagement with Ojakovo is noteworthy within the context of the political realignments that have taken place in Delta APC ahead of the 2027 elections. Ojakovo has previously been associated with the political camp of former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, who was also a former APC senatorial candidate for Delta Central.
In a separate statement on the meeting with the party executives, Dafinone said the discussions examined practical measures for improving grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the party’s organisation ahead of the elections.
He thanked the party’s leaders and executives in Ethiope East for their support and called for continued cooperation among stakeholders.
Ogedegbe, in his remarks, urged the APC executives to remain committed to building the party at the grassroots and work collectively with its leaders and stakeholders towards the 2027 elections.
He described the executives as important to the party’s grassroots structure and stressed the need for unity, commitment and sustained mobilisation.
The meeting was also attended by other party leaders, including Chief Godwin Ogbetuor, Chief John Itebu, Chief Adelabu Bodjor, Chief Justin Oberhiri Uloho, Chief Ejemudaro Salubi and Chief Samson Anomi.
The latest engagement comes amid broader efforts by APC leaders in Delta Central to consolidate the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 elections. In July, APC stakeholders in Delta Central endorsed Dafinone and other party candidates and called for intensified grassroots mobilisation.
