UDU/Nigeria: Senator Ede Dafinone and House of Representatives member Francis Ejiroghene Waive have called on APC leaders and members in Udu and Ughelli South Local Government Areas of Delta State to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made during Senator Dafinone’s consultation visits to the two local government areas, where party stakeholders discussed unity, ward-level organisation and support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, urged party members to remain committed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, while describing the relationship between the federal and state governments as an opportunity for increased development attention to Delta.
He said the party’s success in Udu and Ughelli South would depend on the ability of leaders to work together, mobilise their members and strengthen the party’s presence at the grassroots.
The senator also defended the economic reforms of the Tinubu administration, arguing that the policies were intended to address longstanding challenges and establish a foundation for sustainable development.
He urged party members to communicate the administration’s policies and programmes to residents while maintaining contact with their wards and communities.
Dafinone further emphasised the importance of electoral organisation, stressing that the work of building support for the party must begin at the polling-unit level.
“All politics is local,” he declared, urging APC leaders to take ownership of the party’s structures and work collectively towards the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, called on residents of the two local government areas to support the APC’s candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Waive highlighted the Federal Medical Centre project in the constituency, which he said had created more than 800 jobs for indigenous residents.
He urged the people to recognise employment opportunities and other development initiatives when considering their electoral choices.
The federal lawmaker also pointed to the cordial relationship between President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, saying the cooperation could create opportunities for development in Udu and Ughelli South.
The consultations were attended by Delta Central APC Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki; Chief John Oguma; Chief S. K. Panse; Chief Odebo; and other party stakeholders.
The chairmen of Udu and Ughelli South local government areas, alongside other party leaders, expressed their readiness to mobilise their respective wards and communities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meetings formed part of efforts to strengthen the APC’s grassroots organisation in the two local government areas and coordinate party activities ahead of the elections.
