Oghara: The Forum of Online Publishers in Delta State has been tasked on credible and balanced news reportage in the State and beyond, with the view of reflecting standard of ethnical journalism.
This was the resolution made by members of the Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF), during the inaugural meeting of online publishers in Delta State, held at Niko Palace, Oghara, Ethiope West LGA, attended by notable online publishers, the group unanimously agreed to chat a new course in online newspaper publishing.
It urged members to uphold ethical standard of journalism in their reportage, by ensuring that their stories are credible, balanced and objective, stressing that members should see the society as their constituency, and should avoid sectional reportage capable of creating chaos in the society.
For effective and smooth running of the body, interim Executives was appointed with Enebeli Emmanuel, publisher of www.ndokwarepoters.com as Chairman, Shedrack Onitsha, Publisher, www.advocateng.com as Secretary, and Kparobo Markson Ehvwubare, Publisher, www.sunreporters.com as Organizing Secretary.
The Executives has the mandate to among other functions: draw up a workable constitution and code of conduct for members, adding that the three man executive committee to also work on the aims and objectives of the body.
They also agreed to synergize with national body and Nigeria Union of Journalists to enforce professional standard among online publishers in Delta State, in order to check the activities of quacks masquerading as online publishers.
