ABBI/Nigeria: In a momentous and unwavering move, the Abbi Echala Community in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State has embarked on a resolute campaign against the sale and consumption of perilous substances such as “Ice” and “Kolos,” alongside other destructive hard drugs. This pivotal decision, destined to reshape the community’s approach to substance abuse, was unanimously reached during a gathering held at the palace of Ukor-Okpala C. Enuenwosu.
The urgency behind this proactive action arises from mounting concerns over the detrimental impact of these substances on the mental health of the community’s residents. Leading the charge, the Abbi Echala Chiefs, under the guidance of Onotu-uku Peter Odili, in collaboration with the Ukor-Okpala uku C. Enuenwosu palace, have declared an all-encompassing prohibition of such substances within their jurisdiction.
Recognizing the pernicious influence of “Ice” and “Kolos,” the chiefs have outlined a comprehensive two-pronged strategy to halt their proliferation:
Community-Wide Ban: The first step entails a sweeping ban on the sale and consumption of these harmful substances across the Abbi Community.
Traditional Oath-taking: As an affirmation of their unwavering commitment to eliminating these drugs, the community will administer traditional oaths, known locally as “juju,” to reinforce the ban’s enforcement.
This announcement serves as a stern warning to all individuals involved in the distribution or consumption of these substances within Abbi. Violators of this prohibition will not only face the judgment of the community but also the full weight of the law.
As the community readies itself for the forthcoming oath-taking ceremony, authorities have called upon law enforcement agencies to maintain vigilance and swiftly respond to any individuals or groups that defy the palace’s orders.
In a heartfelt plea, community leaders have urged their youth and residents to distance themselves from these malevolent drugs, acknowledging the profound damage they can inflict on mental health. Furthermore, they have extended a call to neighboring communities to follow suit, believing that a united front against destructive substances will not only benefit the Ndokwa Youths but also Delta State as a whole.
This resolute stance signals a turning point in the battle against substance abuse, safeguarding the well-being of Abbi’s residents and setting a compelling example for neighboring regions.
