ABBI/Nigeria: The Abbi community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State is set to honour the late Chief Mrs. Janet Omeogo Edike Osakwe, who died at the age of 90, with funeral activities scheduled for August 14 and 15, 2026.
Osakwe, whose maiden name was Opute, will be buried in Abbi on Saturday, August 15, according to details contained in a funeral announcement issued by her families.
The programme will commence on Friday, August 14, with a Service of Songs at 4 p.m. at the husband’s family compound, located at 10 Ogbe-Ole Street, Abbi.
On Saturday, the remains of the nonagenarian are expected to leave the Catholic Hospital Mortuary, Abbi, at 9 a.m. for the family house at 10 Ogbe-Ole Street.
A funeral and church service will also be held at the House of His Glory Bible Church, Abbi, as part of the day’s burial activities.
Interment is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the family compound in Iyeze, Abbi, while a reception will follow at Elovie Primary School, Ukanabo-Uku, Abbi.
Osakwe is survived by 10 children, 57 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and loved ones.
The funeral arrangements were signed by Hon. Chuks Lewis Osakwe on behalf of the children and Mr. Isaac J. Opute for the family.
The family described her life as well spent and expressed gratitude to God for the years she lived.
The announcement did not provide details on the date or circumstances of her death.
