PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: In his administration’s determined effort to reclaim Abia State Government Properties and Funds that have been plundered and are now in the possession of retrogressive forces, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has established a Judicial Panel of Enquiry for the Recovery of Government Properties and Funds. Retired Justice Florence Duroha-Igwe has been appointed as the head of the panel.
Responding to Justice Duroha’s appointment, Chief Obiaruko Christie Ndukwe, the Convener of the “Think Home Campaign,” commended her previous work in Imo State. Ndukwe mentioned that Justice Duroha had been retained by Governor Hope Uzodinma after being appointed by the previous administration of Governor Emeka Ihedioha. Furthermore, Ndukwe emphasized that Justice Duroha is a native of Abia State and is married to a man from Imo State. Throughout her career, she has served exclusively in Imo State, rising from a magistrate to a justice.
Chief Obiaruko Ndukwe also highlighted Justice Duroha’s role as the Chairperson of the Imo State Judicial Commission of Inquiry into police brutality and related extra-judicial killings following the End SARS protests. This appointment followed her role as the Chairman of the Recovery of Public Properties inaugurated by Governor Emeka Ihedioha, with the report later submitted to Governor Hope Uzodinma.
Referring to her prophetic declaration on Facebook in 2018, Chief Obiaruko Ndukwe, known as the “Think Home Campaign” convener, expressed her pride in Justice Florence Ikwuoma Duroha-Igwe and her belief in her future endeavors. She requested prayers for God’s protection upon Justice Duroha-Igwe.
Describing Justice Duroha as a well-seasoned legal luminary, a goal-getter, and a no-nonsense woman, Chief Obiaruko declared her confidence in Justice Duroha’s qualifications, capabilities, competence, and determination to carry out the demands of her new position. She made it clear that there would be no escape for those who have looted the state’s common resources.
The establishment of the Judicial Panel of Enquiry for the Recovery of Government Properties and Funds, headed by Justice Duroha-Igwe, signals the Governor’s commitment to hold accountable those responsible for the looting of Abia State’s assets and finances. With an experienced and determined leader at the helm, the panel is expected to bring justice and restore the state’s resources to benefit its citizens.
