ISIALA-NGWA/Nigeria: Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has expressed his appreciation for the commendable governance of his Delta State counterpart, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, during a recent visit to his Umuru, Umuehim country home in Ehi Na Uguru Ancient Kingdom, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.
Governor Oborevwori and his delegation visited Abia for the funeral of late Ezinne Gold Egege, the mother of Catherine Onyeme, the wife of Delta State’s Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme.
Governor Otti commended Governor Oborevwori for his outstanding work in Delta, particularly in prioritizing the welfare of workers and the less privileged in society. He praised the Delta Governor for his commitment to paying salary and pension arrears and supporting struggling families, emphasizing that governance should focus on improving the lives of citizens.
In his own words, Governor Otti stated, “I want to thank you for the important things you are doing for Deltans, especially your care and love for human beings. It has come to my knowledge that you have set aside so much money in paying salary and pension arrears and even supporting struggling families. That is what governance is all about because each time governance moves from human beings to some other things, you have failed as a leader. This is not about stomach infrastructure but a structured system to move people out of poverty and a system where people will have money in their hands to buy whatever they want.”
Governor Otti also expressed his gratitude for Governor Oborevwori’s visit and highlighted the importance of relationships in life. He commended the Delta Governor for not just attending the burial but also personally notifying him of his presence, strengthening their bond as brothers.
Governor Oborevwori reciprocated the warm welcome, emphasizing the significance of the visit in strengthening relationships between the two states. He commended Governor Otti for his knowledge in economics and the assurance of a safe investment environment in Abia. Governor Oborevwori expressed his belief that God had brought Governor Otti at this specific time to elevate Abia to a higher level of development and peace.
He concluded by promising to host Governor Otti and his wife in Delta State and collaborate on projects aimed at meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, enhanced peace and security. Governor Oborevwori expressed his wish for a successful tenure for Governor Otti and lasting peace in Abia State.
