An accident occurred at Umuebu Junction, Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area, killing an Okada Rider on Wednesday 30 April, 2014. According to eye witnesses at the scene of the Accident, a red saloon Camery coming from Abraka end of the ever busy Agbor/Sapele Road on a high speed ran into the bike rider who was crossing from Umuebu road to Obiaruku.
The incident which occurred at the early hour of Wednesday, as observed by our reporter, pulled down the heavy and big sign post bearing the picture of one of the political appointee from the town. While the car and the bike was badly damaged.
Further investigation by our reporter revealed that the victim who was not a commercial bike rider was coming from Umuebu community to transact some business in Obiaruku when the incident occured. His body according to the police who was at the scene of the accident has been deposited at the Obiaruku General Hospital Mortuary, while the police was seeing trying to tow the car to the Police station. Meanwhile the driver of the car has been arrested.
However, it was observed that within the space of less than one week, the area has claimed two lives. Last year, a worker of the Council Area was killed along with her three Children. The resident of the area is therefore calling on those in authourity to find a lasting solution to the loss of lives in the area.
