Age Grade Chairman Delta Community Pledges To Strengthen Group For Better Service Delivery

ASABA/Nigeria: Members of Akamesike age grade of Umuezei Quarters, Asaba in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have been called upon to ensure effective collaboration with one another towards realising the objectives of the association.

The new Chairman/ Eze Ogbor of Akamesike age grade, Ogbueshi (Hon) Benjamin Okonkwo, made the call in his compound in Umuezei Quarters, Asaba during a party he organised to host all members of the organisation in fulfillment of the laid down criteria of the group.

Ogbueshi (Hon) Okonkwo, who described the collective decision of Akamesike age grade for him to assume the leadership of the association as a commendable recognition, appealed to members to give him the needed support and their cooperation towards his determination to take the group to enviable height.

He affirmed that leadership vacuum in any organisation could contribute negatively to the policy direction of such body , adding that his emergence as chairman was designed to strengthen the group  and to fill the vacuum created by the absence of the former chairman who was going through personal challenges hence could not function as the leader of the age grade .

Ogbueshi (Hon) Okonkwo, who lauded the members of the Akamesike age grade association for finding him worthy to lead them, pledged to operate an open door policy so as to carry every member along in the scheme of things.

Earlier in their separate remarks, some members of the age grade including Ogbueshi Ngozi Okonji, the Secretary of Akamesike Age Grade, Ogbueshi Kebodi Anthony Ashionyenedue and the treasurer, Mr. Azubuike Onyia who said that what was being done was part of Asaba customs and traditions, noted that there was need to support him to succeed, even as they maintained that the group would soon unveil him before they enter Asaba.

They disclosed that the  choice of Ogbueshi (Hon) Okonkwo to lead the group which was occasioned  by the continued  absence of  their former chairman as  a result of the issue he  was going through as well as the fact that he was extremely committed to the noble cause of the organisation over time .

Speaking in an interview, some of the Elders of Umuezei Quarters, Ogbueshi Ifeanyi Ikemefuna Ifeonyelonimadu ,  Hon. Chukwudi Nwokolo , Ogbueshi Martin Ifeanyichukwu and the wife of the celebrant , Mrs. Florence Okonkwo as well as Comrade Awele Sawyer, described the new chairman as a quintessential leader, urging members of the organisation to be more untied and work as a team at all times.
