ASABA/Nigeria: Engr. Miracle Arimobi, Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Female Youth Development, has unveiled a strategic partnership with the Motivating African Youths Initiative (MAY-I), led by Dr. Ogenna Walter Ekwubiri. The collaboration, dubbed “The Power of HER,” aims to provide transformative opportunities for young women in Delta State and beyond.
In a press statement released on Friday, July 26, 2024, in Asaba, Arimobi emphasized the importance of this alliance, describing MAY-I as a youth-led, Pan-African community organization dedicated to fostering a vision of a greater Africa. The organization focuses on engaging young people, advocating for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 5 and 17, and promoting leadership development, education, innovation, and mentorship across the continent.
“The Power of HER” addresses gender disparities among young women in Delta State, particularly in accessing government structures and leadership roles. Arimobi noted.
“This initiative provides a crucial platform for young women to recognize their potential and pursue their aspirations in politics and governance, by creating an environment where young women can share perspectives and strategize to achieve their goals.
‘The Power of HER’ seeks to cultivate a new generation of female leaders capable of making significant contributions to their communities and the state at large.
“She further elaborated, “The initiative emphasizes setting clear priorities for empowering young women and ensuring their success. It includes facilitating discussions on improving coordination mechanisms for supporting young women and strengthening partnerships with established female leaders in Delta State.”
Arimobi pointed out that the partnership aims to establish a robust support system that encourages and sustains female participation in leadership and governance. The collaboration with MAY-I will promote youth leadership and foster partnerships to create opportunities for decent work at the grassroots level, by empowering female youth to engage in these areas, the initiative aims to build a more inclusive and equitable society that supports the growth and development of all young women.
Which according to her is in line with the M.O.R.E agenda of the administration of His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
