AJIDE BOAT MISHAP: Uduaghan Stresses Import Of Floating Devices For Travellers

WARRI/Nigeria: Daughter of the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Comrade Orode Uduaghan has urged travellers using water transportation to always adhere to safety measures to avoid fatalities during boat mishap.

Comrade Uduaghan who gave the advice while reacting to the boat mishap that occurred recently at Ajide (Lagos Junction), Warri North Local Government Area, said that travellers should make Personal Floating Device (PFD) and travelling light a prerequisite before embarking on river journeys.

Uduaghan, a Delta State House of Assembly hopeful for the Warri North Constituency, thanked God for sparing the lives of the passengers on board and commended local divers from neighbouring villages for rescuing the travellers from drowning.

The local boat (aka kpekpe) which conveyed passengers from Ogheye to Sapele, was said to have capsized due to a heavy storm that occurred in the early hours of yesterday, damaging goods worth millions of naira.

The incident has continued to elicit reactions from the people of the area who thanked God that no life was lost.
