ASABA/Nigeria: Former Military Administrator of Abia State, Air Vice Marshal Frank O. Ajobena (rtd), has called on Deltans to channel their individual achievements into the collective growth and development of the state. He made the call during the public presentation and launch of the second edition of the 200 Most Outstanding Deltans compendium, held in Asaba.

Represented by his son, Flight Lieutenant Terry Ajobena (rtd), the elder statesman commended the vision and dedication of the compilers of the compendium, describing the project as a celebration of excellence, resilience, and the indomitable spirit of Delta people.

“This project is not just a book; it is a celebration of excellence. By documenting the achievements of our sons and daughters across diverse fields, this compendium provides a mirror of who we are and what we are capable of achieving,” he said.

Ajobena congratulated the honourees, whom he described as the pride of Delta State, noting that their successes in academia, business, politics, sports, the arts, and public service testify to the wealth of talent and perseverance in the state.

However, he stressed that despite these individual accomplishments, the collective progress of Delta State still lags behind in key areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and industrial development. He urged awardees to look beyond personal success and redirect their knowledge, resources, and influence toward uplifting their communities.

“This is not a criticism but a call to action,” Ajobena said. “True greatness is measured not only by individual accomplishments but also by the impact they make on society.”

He also appealed to government and stakeholders to create an enabling environment where the gifts and talents of the people can thrive. According to him, synergy between government and private citizens would ensure that excellence is no longer limited to individual stories but becomes the shared reality of every Deltan.

Describing the compendium as both a record and a resource, Ajobena encouraged that copies be made available in schools, libraries, offices, and homes to inspire the next generation of leaders.

“I urge all to support this noble project by acquiring copies and ensuring that the stories of these outstanding Deltans continue to motivate our youth and remind us of the greatness within us,” he added.

He concluded by congratulating all honourees and expressed hope that the recognition would inspire greater commitment to the service of Delta State and Nigeria at large.

The 200 Most Outstanding Deltans compendium documents the achievements of distinguished personalities across various sectors who have contributed to the unity, growth, and progress of Delta State.
