Akpeki is a Desperate Political Prostitute-Idion

Chief Paulinus Akpeki

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr.Peter Idion, has described a former Commissioner for Housing and immediate – past Chief of Staff in Delta State, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, as a desperate political prostitute who is seeking for relevance by any means possible, no matter how distasteful.
Mr. Idion, who was reacting to the recent decamping of Chief Akpeki from the PDP to the APC, and his (Akpeki) subsequent interviews in some newspapers, where he made futile attempts to discredit his former party, and also disparage the state government, said it was very repulsive reading in the media, on the naive and face saving excuses given by the Sapele born politician for his exiting the PDP
“It is so sad to hear that somebody like Chief Paulinus Akpeki could wake up just one morning to start criticising the PDP and Okowa. More disappointing is that Akpeki who is supposed to be a role model has chosen to throw decorum and self respect to the dustbin in his desperate and shameless bid to remain relevant, and by extention, reap where he did not sow. It is indeed very shameful.
“It is a well known fact that Akpeki benefitted so much from PDP for about 16 years. For him to just realise that PDP is a bad party and that Delta State should not be in opposition is the height of ingratitude, self – serving, hypocrisy and desperation. Did Akpeki not see the so – called rot in the PDP when he was commissioner and Chief of Staff, and was enjoying undeserved patronage from a PDP – led government, where he was part of the decision making process?
“This is a man who was two – time commissioner and Chief of Staff under a PDP government and never saw anything wrong with the party because he was undeservedly reaping from the collective patrimony of Deltans. It is disheartening seeing this same supposedly respectable leader, who the youths are supposed to look up to be shamelessly dancing naked in the market with total lack of integrity, just for a plate of partridge.
“This is somebody that went to the House of Representatives as a young man, and was a director at the Nigerian Railway Corporation, who should have been more interested in his integrity and public image. But unfortunately, he has chosen to make mockery of himself and his age just for the sake of remaining politically relevant and satisfying his unbridled greed for power and filthy lucre.
“This is a man I respect so much. But I was horribly disappointed when I read his unnecessary and misplaced outbursts against the PDP that gave him the platform on which he enjoyed the patronage of government in Delta State for close to 16 years. More nauseating was the infantile excuses he gave for his leaving PDP. Why was he not courageous enough to admit that it was purely for the sake of ‘stomach infrastructure'” he stated.
Mr. Idion wondered why Akpeki had to wait until PDP lost at the national level before he realised that the party was not good enough, maintaining that, “it is the height of deception and unguarded greed for Akpeki, who has lost grip with reality, to say he was going to APC to deliver Delta State from slavery.”
He opined that, “any rational thinking person would readily agree with the Delta State PDP Chairman, Chief Edwin Uzor, that the party would not lose sleep over Akpeki’s defection,” adding that Akpeki who claims to come from ward 4, unit 7 of Sapele local government area has been rejected by his own people because he was not able to impact positively on anybody, pointing out that, “Akpeki cannot boast of having mentored any younger politician that could take over from him, but instead he wants to be in power at all cost and in every dispensation with nothing to show for his long stay in government in terms of development for his people.
“It has become fashionable for Akpeki to want to be part of every administration. And since he felt he could not achieve it this time in PDP he decided to jump ship and pitch his tent with the APC as a short cut to achieving his obviously selfish aim.
“When did he realize that PDP has no ideology, has no agenda. Why did he not realize that when he was enjoying the patronage of same PDP he is seriously trying unabashedly to denigrate?
“Look at who wants to pull Delta State out of slavery. This is a man who has continued to use his privileged positions to emasculate his people in Sapele. A self-centred man who can hardly render assistance to his family cannot be the one claiming to want to bring Delta out of slavery. I advise him to have a deep reflection and self examination.
“One can only see his latest antics from the angle of mischief. Part of which is his diabolical and satanic intention to create disaffection between Okowa and Uduaghan
“One would have expected the garrulous Akpeki to point out his achievements in government in the last 16 years instead of running his mouth. What were his achievements as Commissioner for Housing? He should tell Deltans.”
Referring also to Ebifa Ijeoma, Mr. Idion noted that the former Commissioner for Youths cannot even win a unit in his ward, as he does not have any political carriage and followership.
“I think this is the only reference I can make on this young man (Ijeoma) who benefitted so much from Gov. Okowa. What a way of paying back good with evil. But we will say more about him at the later date. Unfortunately, he is derailing without realizing it,” he stated
