UYO/Nigeria: Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress Party Bar Otoabasi Udo, and the Legal Adviser Bar Uyobong Jumbo have dismissed insinuations that the State will not field a candidate for the 2023 general elections.
The duo bared their minds while answering questions on a phone in program with a private radio station Redemption Fm said, “We have a valid and subsisting governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom APC in the person of Obong Akanimo Udofia”.
In their joint statement, the two legal silk described Akan Udofia, the party flag bearer as “a very capable young man, very exciting young man and a very popular young man Akwa Ibom populace are very hopeful will change the narrative of the people as a vibrant enterpreneur”.
Earlier Bar Udo in his words said, “We have a valid, authentic and legal candidate, who contested with other aspirants, and polled a total of 1227 to defeat others, while former Senator It’s Enang came a distant second with 30 votes.”
The Publicity Secretary who announced he was using the medium to disabuse the minds of unsuspecting members of the public urged the indigenes of the State to remain calm and law abiding as the candidate’s towering profile was causing some people sleepless nights.
Also speaking, his colleague who is the State Legal Adviser, Bar Uyiobong Jumbo disclosed that the party had followed all required and necessary processes of section 82.1 of the Electoral Acts, assuring the electorates that the Primaries of 26th May 2022 has not been cancelled.
On the issue of dual membership to both the PDP and APC, Jumbo quickly dismissed the claim as one of those unfounded allegations, revealing that Udofia left PDP to join the APC, where the Party readily welcomed him back to APC, based on his profile and popularity.
He called on the entire Akwa Ibom people at home and in the diaspora to go out enmasse and get their PVC in order to Vote out the present administration and ensure a change of baton which according to him, they have been yearning for.
