AKWUKWU-IGBO /Nigeria: The Agbamuche family has reaffirmed its dedication to community development by marking the 104th posthumous birthday of the late Chief Michael Ashikodi Agbamuche, SAN, former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, with a significant donation to the Akwukwu-Igbo General Hospital. In keeping with the late legal giant’s enduring love for his community and humanity, the family donated an Inverter Chest Freezer to the hospital, enhancing its capacity to preserve vaccines, medications, and other medical supplies at the required freezing temperatures.

This timely intervention, led by Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, daughter of the late Chief Agbamuche, was warmly received by the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Frank Emayomi, represented by Chief Pharmacist Pharm. Emmanuel Oduh. The donation resonates deeply with both the hospital staff and the broader community, addressing a critical equipment deficit and improving access to quality healthcare for Akwukwu-Igbo residents.

Mrs. Agbamuche-Mbu emphasized that this gesture reflects her family’s commitment to bridging gaps in healthcare infrastructure and mitigating the need for patients to travel long distances for medical services. She highlighted her father’s lifelong dedication to humanitarian causes and legal advocacy for the underprivileged, a legacy that continues to inspire their efforts.
During the presentation, Godfrey Chukwudifu Osakwe, a family member and beneficiary of the Agbamuche family’s generosity, expressed pride in honoring Chief Agbamuche’s memory. He urged the hospital management to make optimal use of the freezer, which was donated in response to a needs assessment by the Agbamuche family.
Community leaders also extolled the virtues of the late Chief Agbamuche, with Mr. Uche Ogbo, an opinion leader in Akwukwu-Igbo, praising the family’s continued commitment to their father’s legacy of service and community development. Mr. Ugochukwu Nwanji echoed these sentiments, describing Chief Agbamuche as a towering figure in both the legal profession and the communal life of Akwukwu-Igbo, whose influence remains a guiding light even after his passing.
