ASABA/Nigeria: All is set as Ndokwa Reporters, one of Delta State’s foremost community-focused media platforms, celebrates its 12th anniversary today with the official unveiling of BEL Dialogue, an annual civic engagement initiative.

The event kicks off at 11:00 a.m. at Top View Hotel, Okpanam Road,  before Delta Police Headquarters, and opposite Five Star Restaurant, Asaba, and is expected to draw government officials, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and development advocates. This year’s theme, “Development or Displacement: Understanding the Cost of Unregulated Land Acquisition in Our Communities — The Role of Government and Traditional Institutions in Safeguarding Community Lands,” highlights the urgent debate around land ownership and community rights.

Organizers say the BEL Dialogue will serve as a platform for frank conversations, exchange of ideas, and possible solutions to the challenges posed by unregulated land acquisitions. Discussions will focus on how government and traditional institutions can play stronger roles in protecting community lands.

Convener of the dialogue, Emmanuel O. Enebeli, Mnipr, explained that the session aims to build voices, deepen understanding, and develop practical steps to address the negative impact of land acquisitions. “We want to engage meaningfully, highlight the challenges, and provide advice that can lead to workable solutions. This dialogue is about safeguarding the future of our communities,” he said.

Stakeholders and members of the public are expected to participate in the anniversary celebration and the debate, which begins at 11:00 a.m. prompt.
