AMAI/Nigeria: Amai people in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State have said business activities no longer flourish in the community because of the very bad condition of their market.
They made the remarks in a separate interview with newsmen at Amai.
They said because of the dilapidated condition of the market, that the people now carry out their business on the road, adding that it was a big risk to trade on the road.
They said all the appeals made to the council to renovate the market fell on deaf ears, describing the situation as unfortunate, adding that Amai market has been in bad condition for the past fifteen years.
The revenue unit from the local government, according to them, visited on daily bases for revenue drive in the community but failed to renovate the market.
Amai people lauded Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for his notable developments in the State, describing him as a visionary leader that has the interest of people at heart.
They appealed to the State Governor to come to their aid, saying that their major challenges were market and road.
Chief Epochi Etu and Comrade Gabriel Ibobo who also spoke to newsmen on the issue, said Amai people are peace loving people.
They said renovation of Amai market was long overdue, adding that business activities would return back to the area if the market is renovated.
