Anambra to Host Historic WBF Title Fight as Zeus Sports Unveils ‘Solution Bout’

World Boxing Federation (WBF) featherweight title fight

AWKA/Nigeria: Zeus Sports Ltd has announced plans to stage what could be Nigeria’s biggest boxing event yet—a World Boxing Federation (WBF) featherweight title fight, in Awka, Anambra State.

Speaking to sports journalists on Friday, renowned promoter Emmanuel Emenogu revealed that the bout, tagged the “Solution Bout,” will feature Nigeria’s Taiwo Agbaje against France’s Thomas Mason in a headline fight sanctioned by the WBF.

“This is a landmark event—one that will place Anambra and Nigeria firmly on the global sports map,” Emenogu said. “It’s the first of its kind in the Southeast and only the second WBF title fight in Africa.”

The international bout will be staged at the newly unveiled Solution Fun City in Awka, a modern entertainment hub equipped to host world-class sporting events. The day-long boxing fiesta will also feature a series of undercard fights before the title showdown.

According to Emenogu, the event will be beamed to an estimated 120 million viewers in the United States alone, positioning it as a major global spectacle.

He said the decision to host the event in Anambra was strategic, noting the state’s accessibility, vibrant hospitality sector, and rich cultural heritage.

“It’s not just a boxing event—it’s an opportunity to showcase the peace, beauty, and hospitality of Anambra and counter false narratives about insecurity in the Southeast,” he said.

Odira Ezeh, Project Coordinator of the Solution Bout, emphasized that the event also serves as a platform to highlight Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s investment in infrastructure and sports development.

“Our sports-loving governor has created an enabling environment for this level of international engagement. The world will gather here, and Prof. Soludo will be the chief host,” Ezeh said.

With global attention shifting to Awka ahead of the “Solution Bout,” the organisers say the event will not only thrill boxing fans but also redefine the Southeast’s image on the international stage.
