ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government is aware of the fact that the perennial flooding in the State especially Asaba and its environs occasioned by heavy rain, has caused severe hardship to the residents of the State.
No doubt, household properties and other valuables have been lost to the flood, but we thank God that no life has been lost.
While the State Government sympathizes with the plights of the people, it is stressed that government is working assiduously to ensure that the perennial flooding being faced by the people of the State is controlled and hardship reduced to the barest minimum.
The numerous Storm Water Projects currently been executed by the State Government is a step in the right direction and remain a lasting solution to tackle the issue of flooding especially in Asaba, when fully completed.
Government is also working out measures to tackle the issue of flooding in Warri, Effurun and other parts of the State.
No doubt, residents of the State has a vital role to play in assisting the State Government’s efforts in checking the menace of the flood by desisting from erecting illegal structures on natural water ways and dumping of waste in the drains.
The State Government once again appeal to the residents of the State to exercise patience as efforts are intensified to check the flood.
