APC Chieftain Denounces Party’s Leadership Changes in Rivers State

PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: In a scathing critique of recent events within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and a prominent figure within the APC, has condemned the dissolution of the ward, local government, and state executive committees of the Rivers State chapter. Eze decried the inauguration of what he termed as “a band of serial sinners and obdurate saboteurs” appointed by the national leadership of the party to lead in a care-taker capacity, labeling it a step most unprogressive.

Expressing his dismay in a statement provided to various media outlets, the party stalwart pointed out that these developments were part of a series of underhanded schemes aimed at embarrassing former Rivers Governor, Chibuike Amaechi.

Eze vehemently criticized the move, alleging that it was orchestrated by influential figures within the APC, including President Tinubu, APC National Chairman Umar Ganduje, and their associates, to wrest control of the party’s state chapter, handing it over to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike while sidelining Amaechi and his team.

Eze cautioned against underestimating Wike, describing him as a political chameleon, capable of adapting to any situation for his own benefit, regardless of its usefulness to society. He warned that granting Wike and his agents control over the party structure would ultimately lead to adverse consequences, citing the experiences of Tinubu and Ganduje in countering Wike’s attempts to destabilize the APC.

Regarding Wike’s ministerial appointment at the federal level, Eze saw it as unjust compensation for Wike’s alleged role in undermining the electoral process during previous elections, alluding to a false bid to secure victory for Tinubu. He lamented that appointments made by Tinubu’s government appeared to exclusively favor Wike and his allies, individuals Eze referred to as “chameleonic ingrates” who reportedly hindered Rivers APC progress.

The APC chieftain raised concerns about the potentially prejudicial nature of the party’s actions, especially since the dissolution of the state executive committee was undergoing legal proceedings in a competent court. Eze highlighted an ex parte motion filed to maintain the status quo, which would halt the inauguration of the interim committee pending court resolution.

Asserting the steadfastness of Amaechi’s political structure, Eze reaffirmed their resilience in the face of attempts to dismantle it. He urged party faithful and well-meaning citizens to continue supporting Amaechi during this period of transition, signaling the anticipation of a new phase for the party in Rivers State.
