
ASABA/Nigeria: The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its Delta State House of Assembly primaries, producing candidates across the 29 state constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the party described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and credible.
The primaries, held across the state, saw the emergence of serving lawmakers, political office holders and new entrants as candidates to fly the party’s flag, while the APC House of Assembly Primaries Committee commended the leadership of the party in Delta State for what it described as maturity, strong organisation and people-oriented leadership.
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, emerged as the APC candidate for Warri South-West Constituency, while Engr. Orobosa Ashakah secured the party’s ticket in Isoko North Constituency. Mr. Lucky Idhoveh also emerged candidate for Isoko South Constituency I.
Incumbent lawmaker representing Isoko South Constituency II, Hon. Ferguson Onwo, secured the party’s ticket for re-election, while Ms. Orode Uduaghan emerged victorious in Warri North Constituency. Incumbent lawmakers Hon. Augustine Uroye and Hon. Benson Obire retained tickets for Warri South Constituencies I and II respectively.
In the riverine axis, Mr. ThankGod Trakiriowei won the Patani Constituency ticket, Barr. Funyei Manager emerged in Bomadi, while Hon. Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo and Hon. Perez Oloye secured tickets for Burutu Constituencies I and II respectively.
Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, emerged candidate for Ethiope East Constituency, while Hon. Oghenedoro Owoso clinched the ticket for Ethiope West. Incumbent lawmaker Hon. Matthew Omonade and Chief Joseph Okoro won in Ughelli North Constituencies I and II respectively, while Hon. Festus Utuama was returned unopposed in Ughelli South.
Member representing Okpe Constituency, Hon. James Augoye, secured renomination, Benjamin Sharta emerged in Udu, while Hon. Edafe Emakpor clinched the ticket for Uvwie Constituency. Hon. Perkins Umukoro also won the APC ticket in Sapele as he seeks re-election.
In Delta North, incumbent lawmaker Hon. Bridget Anyafulu emerged victorious in Oshimili South, while Oshimili North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Innocent Eseweze, secured the ticket for Oshimili North Constituency. Hon. Isaac Anwuzia and Engr. Fidel Onwordi won the tickets for Aniocha South and Aniocha North respectively.
Also emerging victorious were incumbent lawmaker Hon. Chukwudi Dafe in Ukwuani Constituency, Prince Emeka Osamuta in Ndokwa East and Chief Princewill Olie in Ndokwa West, while Hon. Cordilia Anyangwu won in Ika South and Hon. Marilyn Okowa-Daramola secured renomination for Ika North-East Constituency.
Meanwhile, the APC House of Assembly Primaries Committee constituted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) praised the Delta APC leadership, describing it as focused and committed to future electoral victories.
Chairman of the Committee, Engr. Vita Abda, speaking with journalists at the party secretariat, said the committee was impressed with the political atmosphere and organisational structure within the party in Delta State. He noted that the panel was in the state to monitor and supervise the primaries in line with APC guidelines.
“We have come and we have seen Delta, and I want to put it on record that my team and I are happy with the leadership in Delta State. From what we have seen, Delta has a strong leadership that is people-oriented,” Abda stated.
The committee also commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for infrastructural development and people-centred projects, while applauding the state APC leadership under Chairman Hon. Solomon Arenyeka, whom it described as capable of steering the party to greater success.
The panel expressed optimism that the APC would emerge stronger in Delta State under the combined leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
