ASABA/Nigeria: A foremost Delta North Senatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Dr. Amb. Gabriel Chukwuma E. Oyibode (JP) has congratulated the people’s general, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, on his victory at the APC gubernatorial primaries that was held in Asaba yesterday.
Speaking to newsmen in Asaba, immediately after the primaries, Amb. Oyibode spoke on the fortunes of the party in the forthcoming elections with Chief Great Ogboru as its governorship candidate while describing him as a true progressive capable of defeating the PDP led government in Delta State.
“It is good news that, after all said and done, the party, through an indirect primary, as approved by the National Working Committee, NWC, elected Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru as the standard-bearer of the APC in the forthcoming Delta State governorship election.
“Chief Great Ogboru has a good track record as a true progressive having enjoyed the support and goodwill of the people in the past elections in the State but the PDP rigging machinery did what they knew how best to do – rigged him out.
“However, we believe that given a solid platform of true progressives that our great party presents and the unifying call for positive change by well-meaning Deltans, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru will coast to victory, in 2019.
“Reiterating my stance on good governance, the time is now for Chief Great to lead Delta State out of the awful economic situation we find ourselves, today. We humbly call on Deltans to support Chief Great Ogboru to bring about the dividends of democracy that we all crave for, in our beloved State.
“I also heartily congratulate Rt Hon Victor Ochei, Prof Pat Utomi and Dr Cairo Ojougboh who were all leading aspirants in the gubernatorial primary for their commitment to the party and the zeal to lead the charge for a rebirth Delta. I commend their sportsmanship especially as the voting process was largely peaceful” Amb. Oyibode said.
Amb. Oyibode also used the medium to urge the Delta North APC delegates to vote him as the party flag bearer for delta north senatorial district.
