AGBOR/Nigeria: With less than 12 months to the 2019 governorship elections, the people of Abavo in Ika South local government area of Delta State have endorsed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for second term in office.
The people of Abavo at a grand solidarity rally held at Abavo, Ika South local government area of Delta State at the weekend, stated that Governor Okowa’s “all round delivery of democratic dividends in every parts of the State should earn him a second term in office.” Father of Governor Okowa, Pa Arthur Okorie Uzoma Okowa, prominent politicians from across the state and beyond, including the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State chapter, Barr. Kingsley Esiso attended the rally which took place at the weekend.
Hon. Sunny Tatabuzogwu, Chairman, Executive Coordinating Team of Abavo Political Forum (APF), organisers of the political rally, said, “today, we are happy with the achievements of Governor Okowa across the state in terms of creating millionaires through the Job Creation office, massive construction of roads and drainages across the state and we hereby, endorse Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for second term in office, several rallies have been held for the Governor but, because, the Governor is our own, this is the mother of all political rallies, people from different parts of the world are here in solidarity with the Governor and we want to state that we will buy the PDP governorship nomination form for Senator Okowa’s re-election. ”
“We will work with our relations, friends, colleagues and different interest groups in all parts of the state to ensure that our Governor gets overwhelming votes for his re-election in 2019,” Hon. Tatabuzogwu said.
Barr. Esiso who commended the APF that led to the massive turnout of people for the rally, stated, “PDP is one indivisible family, our Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has done very well to deserve second term, support for the Governor cannot be 95 per cent, it should be 100 per cent.”
The PDP Chairman observed that with the rotational programme of the PDP, it was deserving for Governor to complete his second term in office.
He urged Deltans who are 18 years and above to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and collect their permanent voters card to enable them participate in the electoral process.
Delta State Women Leader of the PDP, Hon. (Mrs) Kanwulia Omoko called on women to be active in politics and avoid playing second fiddle in politics.
She stated that women should be actively involved in politics.
Chairman, Planning, Strategy and Policy Committee of APF, Chief Isioma Okonta had in an address, said, “this mega political rally is in honour and support of our son, our brother and leader, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa; we know that Abavo is for Okowa and Okowa is for Abavo, we will continue to support him and deliver maximum votes come 2019, because, he has done very well for Deltans.”
“With massive network of roads, evenly distributed across the three senatorial districts, the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme with the provision of health services, free maternal and free under 5 health care programmes to numerous beneficiaries, and several agricultural and youth empowerment programs, Deltans can attest to the fact that it is a new dawn,” Chief Okonta said.
Others who spoke at the occasion include Hon. Cordelia Anyagwu, Mr Ngozi Isibor, Prince Ngozi Emioma, Mr. Cosmos Gbinije, among others gave reasons why Governor Okowa should be re-elected as the Governor of Delta State.
Exercise books were presented to students during the rally to encourage education, among other presentations.
