“Aproko Mataz: Youths Protested in 2020. Will We Show Up in 2023?”

Nigerian Youths Protest

By Precious Onwumelu

#EndSARS gave us voice. Twitter gave us power. We trended, we protested, we raised millions in 48 hours. We proved we could organize.

But Aproko Mataz wants to know: where is the PVC?

Anger without ballots is just noise. The same people we dragged online for 2 weeks will be on the ballot in 2023, and if we’re not in the polling unit, someone else will decide for us.

The ‘boring’ work is what changes things: register, collect, vote, protect the vote. Join party structures. Run for councilor. Monitor INEC.

Gist is sweet. Governance is sweeter. It’s the difference between tweeting about bad roads and being the one to approve the budget to fix it.

2020 showed us our power. 2023 will test if we have our patience. Let’s turn our timeline energy into polling unit energy. The country is not a comment section.
