Aspirants Cautioned Working Against PDP Interest

ASABA/Nigeria:  Aspirants seeking elective positions in Oshimili South Local Government Area under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been charged not to allow their personal ambitions to derail the interest of the party.

The Chairman of PDP in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, gave the charge during the monthly general meeting of PDP in the area recently.

He explained that aspirants who insist on contesting the forthcoming party primaries should be ready to bear the outcome, if unfavourable to them, and join hands with others to deliver the party.

According to him, the party leadership in the local government area was interested in unifying all interests for the purpose of ensuring total victory for Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in 2019.

He pointed out that Oshimili South local government had benefited so much in terms of infrastructure and empowerment from this administration and is determined to deliver the highest votes to the governor and all PDP candidates in 2019.

Ogbueshi Okonji therefore urged aspirants who are not too convinced of their ambition to step down and work with the party instead of causing crisis, adding that those who made sacrifice for the unity of the party would be recognised at the appropriate time.

He commended the PDP Chairmen and executives in all the wards, elders, party leaders and political appointees for working hard to ensure that votes from the area are not divided.

Also speaking, a former State Secretary of PDP, Alanza Uche Ugboma and the Commissioner for Health, Dr Mordi Ononye, called on aspirants to reexamine themselves for the sake of peace and unity of the party than giving opposition cause to divide votes in the area.

One of the aspirants, Mr Uche Nwabuoku, who spoke on behalf of others, assured that they would meet to consider the advise of the leaders.
