Assembly Committee Lauds Progress on Flyover and Road Expansion Projects in Warri, Effurun

EFFURUN/Nigeria: The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Special Projects has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing flyover and road expansion projects in the Effurun and Warri areas, being executed by the state government.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Oboro Kenneth Preyor, who led fellow committee members on an oversight visit to the project sites at DSC Roundabout, PTI Junction, and Enerhen Junction in Uvwie Local Government Area, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his vision in initiating the transformative infrastructure works.

During the visit, Hon. Preyor also applauded the efforts of Julius Berger, the construction firm handling the projects, urging the company to ensure that quality, timely delivery, environmental considerations, and meaningful engagement with host communities remain priorities as the work advances.

The lawmaker, who represents Bomadi Constituency, emphasised that the expansive flyover projects are expected to significantly boost infrastructure, transportation, and economic activities in Warri, Effurun, and surrounding areas. He expressed optimism that the projects, scheduled for completion in December 2025, would be delivered as promised by the contractors.

Preyor, accompanied by fellow committee members Ferguson Onwo, Emmanuel Sinebe, Ebitonmo Alapala, and Edafe Emakpor, reiterated the Delta Assembly’s commitment to maintaining a close partnership with the Executive to ensure the delivery of high-quality projects that will benefit the people of Delta State.

Despite the heavy downpour, the lawmakers inspected additional ongoing construction works in Okpe and Sapele Local Government Areas. These included the Storm Water Management and Control project in Osubi and the reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads in Sapele.

Hon. Preyor affirmed that the state government’s focus on quality infrastructure aligns with Governor Oborevwori’s campaign promises and the MORE agenda of his administration. He noted that significant resources had been allocated to the state’s physical infrastructure development, underscoring the Assembly’s resolve to closely monitor the projects in line with its oversight responsibilities.

He passionately appealed to contractors handling various projects in the state not to frustrate government’s efforts, but to work according to approved designs and timely delivery, considering the positive impacts on the economy and residents.

The Member representing Uvwie in the House, Hon Edafe Emakpor, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for embarking on such huge projects in his constituency, which he said will greatly impact on the twin cities of Effurun and Warri.

Hon Emakpor urged residents to continue to corporate with the State government and contractors for onward delivery of the project.
